On a Knobster, a layout is firmware — there's no hidden config to sync. Flash the stock firmware below to reset to the factory map, or bake a custom layout with the SDK (one C file). Your JSON export is the design record either way.

Serum 2 doubled its macros from four to eight — one for every knob you have. Right-click a Macro, hit MIDI Learn, turn the matching knob: FM, filter cutoff, warp, wavetable position and four more, now in hardware. Buttons toggle FX modules or oscillator enables — whatever you learn them to.
The real MIDI Sound Controller CCs: attack 73, decay 75, release 72, cutoff 74, resonance 71, vibrato rate/depth/delay 76–78. GM2 hardware and most VA plugins respond with zero mapping.

The factory firmware — the default CC layout — flashes straight from the browser. No dfu-util, no terminal. Two clicks: reboot the board into flash mode over MIDI, then write.
"Put it in flash mode" uses Web MIDI — Chrome or Edge, with MIDI access allowed. No MIDI, or the board won't respond? Put it in the bootloader by hand: unplug, hold SW1 (leftmost button) while plugging back in, then hit Flash stock firmware. That recovery works even when the firmware is broken — the bootloader lives in a region this page can't touch.
Windows: if the device won't open, install the WinUSB driver for "STM32 BOOTLOADER" once with Zadig. Linux: a udev rule may be needed. Writes are verified by reading the flash back. Prefer a terminal? The manual instructions still work.
